The All-County audition process provides an opportunity for students to prepare and perform a solo or small ensemble for a judge. Students receive feedback in a positive and supportive atmosphere to help improve their performance skills. An All-County audition is required in order to be considered for an honors ensemble.

All solos and ensembles must be listed in the current NYSSMA Manual Edition XXIX (effective July 1, 2009). Photocopied music is strictly prohibited. Only valid origanls may be used for auditions. Students must provide a judge's copy (a piano accompaniment which shows the solo line is acceptable). Please write in all measure numbers.
Registration must be completed through your school music teacher. Students, parents and private teachers are not permitted to access the online registration system. Registration closes promptly at 11:59pm on Friday, September 25th for vocal auditions and Friday, October 23rd for instrumental auditions. There will be no exceptions.
There is an $10 fee for each instrumental audition and a $7 for each vocal audition. Fees are collected through each school and submitted in one payment to the NCMEA audition administrator along with your online registration confirmation. Fees and confirmation are due IN HAND to NCMEA on Friday, September 25th for vocal auditions and Friday, October 23rd for instrumental auditions. Contact your school's music teacher to learn more about how fees are handled.
While there is no specific dress code for auditions, it is highly recomended that students dress nicely. It is appropriate for boys to wear pants/shirt/tie and for girls to wear a skirt that falls below the knees and a blouse.
All playing permits will be generated by the online registration system. Teachers must print and sign all playing permits once given approval by the registration administrator.
